SS9744 COMBELAND ROAD, Alcombe 900-1/5/133 (South side) 28/10/76 No.2 and attached gate and wall (Formerly Listed as: COMBELAND ROAD, Alcombe (South side) No.2 The Handy Shop, Esville House)

House at a right angle to the road with shop to rear right in Combeland Road. Early C19, altered c1980 with late C19 rear wing. Painted render over rubblestone, crested slate roof, brick stacks to gable ends and rear wing. Double-depth plan with long curved rear right wing. 2 storeys; 3-window range. The C19 rear wing has three horned 2/2-pane sash windows to the first floor, a wide segmental arch to a 3-light plate-glass shop window to ground-floor right and a door with overlight, glazed to the top with 2 bolection-moulded panels to the base, to the left of it. An early C19 eight/eight-pane sash window to the left is flanked by C20 windows. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: a tall rubblestone wall extending approx 15m to the left has an early C19 tall iron gate with long/short railings.
