Description
Hoar Oak Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century, located on Combeland Road in Alcombe, Minehead. The cottage features painted render over rubblestone and has a crested slate roof with no stacks on the main block. It has a double-depth plan with rear additions and stands two storeys tall, comprising a four-window range.
The first floor and the right side of the ground floor have 18th-century two-light leaded casement windows. To the right of the centre, there is a door beneath a late 19th-century trellised porch, with a 20th-century window to the left and a canted 19th-century two-light bay window further left. The far left has a service entrance that has been blocked by a 20th-century window, with a small 20th-century window to its right. On the right side, there are 20th-century French doors with a 20th-century window above, positioned right of centre.
Additionally, there is an attached rubblestone wall approximately 2 meters high, which was lowered around 1980. This wall is connected to the front right corner of the cottage and sweeps down to meet a similar wall belonging to The Lodge. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
