Description
Two houses, numbers 2 and 3 Brook Street, are located in Alcombe, Minehead, and date from the late 18th or early 19th century. They are built with painted render over rubble stone, and have a slate roof with brick stacks at the gable ends. The houses have a double-depth plan with later additions to the rear. They are arranged over two storeys with an attic and basement, originally presenting a symmetrical two-window facade. A pair of central doorways have 19th or 20th-century lean-to porches, each sheltered by a blind window above. The upper floors have matching two-light casement windows. Number 2 has a 20th-century dormer and replacement windows. A lean-to addition is present to the right. The interior of number 2 is said to have been altered, while number 3 is reported to retain some original features, including a raised and fielded six-panelled front door.
