Description
A terrace of five houses, built in the early 19th century, likely around the 1830s. The terrace sits on a raised site above the road, flanked to the left by Alcombe House and to the right by Alcombe Hall. The houses have painted render over a rubble stone core, with a partly crested slate roof and brick stacks dividing the party walls. They are arranged with double-depth plans and have rear wings. Each house is three storeys high and has a single-window range. The windows on the north side of numbers 1, 2, and 3 are tripartite sashes with 6/6 panes on the ground and first floors, and 3/6 panes on the second floor; the windows of numbers 4 and 5 have been replaced with 20th-century sash windows. Six-panel doors are located to the left of numbers 1, 3, and 5, and to the right of numbers 2 and 4. These doors are paired under a shared porch with glazed upper panels. There are three-storey service blocks to the rear, featuring hipped and gabled roofs. The interior has not been inspected. The site is fronted by a replacement rubble stone retaining wall. Two original rubble stone walls rise to connect with the terrace. The rubble stone gate piers are accentuated with brick quoins.
