Description
Ferndale is a cottage that underwent remodelling in the late 18th century or early 19th century, originally based on an earlier structure. It features painted render over rubblestone and has a hipped pantile roof sloping to the right, with a rendered lateral stack topped with pantiles above the eaves and a brick stack on the left gable end. The building has an irregular, nearly hexagonal shape and stands two storeys tall with a one-window range. The facade slopes away from the road and includes 19th-century two-light casement windows, with the first-floor windows positioned at eaves level. A central 20th-century door with a hood is flanked by a window on both floors. The right side of the cottage, which faces Church Street, has one window on each floor towards the front and the lateral stack towards the rear. There is also a single-storey lean-to on the left side, which is part of the hexagonal plan. Although the interior has not been inspected, there is a notable attached rubblestone wall at the rear right corner, approximately 3 meters high and 40 meters long.
