Description
The Gates and Gate Piers, located about 45 metres southeast of Coombe Hill House, date from the early 19th century. They are constructed from Doulting stone and feature wrought iron gates. The piers are approximately 600 mm square at the base and have a high moulded plinth. The ashlar stalks are decorated with incised designs on all four sides, topped with deep flat caps that have end moulding, each fitted with Adar style urns with lids. The gates are designed to match the piers, featuring barbed arrowheads on the rails, sweeps, and corner urn finials. This gateway provides a grand approach to an important house.
