Description

The gate piers and wing wall at the southern corner of Plox House date from the 18th century and are constructed from Doulting stone. The square piers are rusticated ashlar, measuring about 600 mm square and standing 2.5 metres tall to the caps, which feature cornice mould caps and are topped with stepped pineapple finials. The piers are incised with the legend "Plox House" in a 19th-century style. Between the piers are modern timber gates, and there are short ashlar return walls on each side. These features are significant in relation to Plox House.
