Description
No 7 Patwell Street is a house in a row with origins dating back to the early 17th century. It is constructed from locally sourced stone that has been cut and squared, topped with a stone slate roof supported by abutments and featuring a central brick chimney stack. The building stands two storeys high and has three bays.
On the first floor, there are 19th-century sash windows that include central dividing bars, with a single window in bays one and two and a double window in bay three. Below, there is a late 20th-century bow window that has replaced a shop window in bays one and two. Between the bays, there is a six-panel 19th-century door with a flat timber hood supported by brackets, and bay three features a coupled pair of eight-pane sash windows.
Although the interior has not been seen, a report mentions a through-passage plan, beams with stepped run-out stops, and depressed four-centre lintels with plain chamfers and square stops around two fireplaces, indicating an early 17th-century date.
