Description

This is an 18th-century house and shops, now a veterinary surgery, situated in a row on Patwell Street. The building is constructed of local stone, rendered and colourwashed, with a double Roman clay tile roof and brick end chimney stacks. It has two storeys and three irregular bays. The first floor features 16-pane sash windows within wooden surrounds. On the ground floor, the left bay has a wide six-panel door with a stone surround featuring flat Doric pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment. Bays one and two contain an early 20th-century shopfront, including a part-glazed door to the left and a ten-pane window, with thin Doric pilasters and a plain fascia. The shopfront to bay three is similar, but with a recessed doorway to the left and plate glass windows, wider pilasters. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
