Description
No 9 Patwell Street is a house that has its origins in the 16th century and has been modified over time. The ground floor is constructed of local stone rubble, while the upper part features a timber frame that is rendered and colourwashed. The roof is made of double Roman clay tiles with plain gables, and there are brick chimney stacks at each end. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The first floor is fitted with 12-pane sash windows, while the outer bays on the ground floor have 20th-century hardwood square bay windows with lead roofs. Between these bay windows is a late 20th-century door set in an open pedimented timber surround, which may date back to the 18th century, and is positioned within an earlier 4-centre arch that is now partly blocked. The first floor features a small overhang with the rounded ends of the joists exposed. The interior has not been seen.
