Description

These gate piers, located about 42 meters north of Wadfield House, date from the early 18th century and are made of ashlar stone. Each pier features a chamfered plinth at the ground level, a square stone section above, a moulded cap, and a blocking course, with a swept base leading up to a ball finial. The piers still have hooks for the original gates, although the wrought-iron gates present as of 1986 are not of special interest. There are small recesses at the back of the piers that were used for the original wooden fencing. These gate piers form a group with Wadfield House.
