Description

This milestone, located on the B3151, is likely from the early 19th century. It is made of Ham stone and features a cast iron plaque. The pillar has a trapezoidal shape, measuring 800mm by 460mm wide and 150mm thick, with a height of 500mm. The plaque is set on the wider face of the pillar and reads "Castle Cary 7 ½, Ilchester 3". This road was managed by the Ilchester Trust from 1753 to 1874.
