Description

Speckington Manor is a manor house with parts dating from the 17th century, which was refronted in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from locally sourced stone that is cut, squared, and coursed, with Ham stone dressings. The roof is covered with Welsh slates and features coped gables, one of which is hipped, along with stone chimney stacks. The building has a double roof plan and the main facade is two stories high with three bays. There is a one-bay extension to the west that is set back from the main structure.

The central entrance features a cambered arched doorway beneath a square label. The windows are four-light hollow chamfered mullioned types, with a three-light window above the door, all equipped with labels and some containing iron casements. The extension has a cantered arch doorway with a deep stone lintel and three-light hollow chamfered mullioned windows with labels, including ferramenta. The east-facing double gable wall has various mullioned windows, and there are additional windows at the rear.

The main interior has not been seen, but in the extension, there is a well-preserved beamed ceiling and a 17th-century blocked fireplace that was only recently uncovered in April 1983.
