Description

Urgashay Farm House is a 17th-century farmhouse, originally built as two or three cottages. It is constructed from cut and squared local stone, with double Roman clay tiles over thatch, and features centre and end brick chimney stacks. The house is two storeys high, with four windows on each floor and an irregular pattern of openings. It has 3- and 4-light casement windows beneath exposed timber lintels. An off-centre doorway on the right side of the building is presently masked by a mid-20th century semi-glazed porch with a flat roof, which incorporates an earlier porthole window to the left of the porch. A two-storey extension to the rear originally housed a dairy.

Inside, there is a through hall with a wide fireplace. A plank and muntin partition with ovolo-moulded framing separates one end room. Other features include shield-top chamfered beads, a former stair mast, and possible original stairs concealed beneath casing, along with a blocked stair light. At least one jointed cruck is present. The house has group value with Urgashay Farm Stable and Granary.
