Description
The Cottage is a semi-detached cottage, likely built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from local stone that is cut and squared in a random coursed style, topped with concrete double Roman tiles and finished with coped gables. The building features an end and an intermediate brick chimney stack.
This two-storey structure includes an attic and has three bays. The entrance door, which is plain boarded and set in a heavy frame, is located between the second and third bays. The first bay contains two-light timber casement windows with diamond leaded panes, while the second bay and the lower window of the third bay have plain casement windows. The upper window of the third bay is an earlier style three-light casement window with small diamond leaded panes. All window openings are plain and have slightly segmental voussoired arches.
On the south gable wall, there are additional casement windows, and at the attic level, there is a semi-circular window with radial glazing set in an ashlar surround. The south bay of the cottage is of a different build and is likely the earlier part of the structure, as indicated by its high gable copings which suggest it may have originally had a thatched roof. The Cottage is attached to Henderson's Cottage to the north, and together they hold group value in relation to Glebe Farm House.
