Description
Downlands is a cottage dated 1701, constructed from locally sourced stone that has been cut and squared in a random coursed style. The original thatched roof has been replaced with concrete tiles in a Ludlow pattern, and the building features coped gables and end brick chimney stacks. It is two stories high and has three bays. The central entrance consists of a two-panel door set within a heavy wooden frame, adorned with an architrave moulding. On either side of the entrance are two 20th-century casement windows, all of which are topped by a continuous label mould. Above these, there are three small three-light casement windows, with a date panel between the second and third windows that reads "J P 1701," indicating a presumed date of alteration.
