Description

Wales Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating primarily to the 17th century, with later additions. It is constructed of local lias stone with squared and cut blocks, and dressed with Ham stone. The roof is thatched, with coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with a three-bay south elevation. The south elevation features hollow-chamfered mullioned windows; the upper windows are three-light, and the lower windows are four-light with plain glazing, each set within a square label. A four-centred arched doorway with an ovolo moulding is situated under a square label in the lower bay. A former staircase window, now blocked and rendered with a hood mould, is to the left of the first bay. On the rear elevation are two chamfered casement windows with early leading. The interior retains some original features, including deep chamfer beams with step and run-out stops, an early 19th-century staircase, a rear boarded door that may be from the 17th century, and other 18th-century ground floor doors.
