Well cistern in roadside bank. Medieval in origin, date of present work unknown. Lias stone enclosure, with slab lid on 4 courses of coursed rubble around 3 sides; water level just below road. A sulphurous spring long used for medicinal purposes, especially eye problems, probably a focal point in part of the old village of Queen Camel, mostly destroyed by fire in 1639. (Moore G, Queen Camel, Our Royal Heritage, 1984).
