Description
Nightingale House is a detached house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that is roughly cut and squared, with asbestos cement slates between coped gables and a hipped Welsh slate roof on the rear portion. The house features brick end chimney stacks and has a double roof plan. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and consists of three bays. The windows are small-pane casements with two lights, each having voussoired flat arches with slightly projecting keystones. In the lower bay 2, there is a 6-panel door with two glazed panels, which does not have a hood. An attic casement window is located in the east gable, while a rear extension includes a 12-pane sash window in the east gable. There are further lean-to extensions against both sections of the east wall. The interior has not been seen. The south boundary is marked by a cast iron railing featuring bud finials and a pair of matching gates opposite the door, set on scroll-braced gateposts. High return stone walls to the east and west have flat copings and sweep up to the corners of the house, enhancing the overall setting of the property.
