Description
Lundy Cottage is a mid-17th century cottage located on Fore Street in West Camel. It is constructed from squared and coursed local stone and features a thatched roof with gable end chimneys made of brick, one of which has a stone base. The cottage has an "L"-shaped plan and is single-storey with an attic, now accessed through a gable entry on the east side. A thatched wooden porch, dating from the early 20th century, protects a door from the 18th century. At the rear, there are two and three-light casement windows. The original entrance now leads into a north extension, and there is a lean-to on the west side. Inside, there is a small recased winding stair with a stairlight above the porch, an end fireplace with a cambered bead, and deep raised end stop-chamfered beams. The cottage served as the village police station in the 1920s.
