Description

Lamorran Manor House is a manor house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with later additions. It is constructed from slatestone and granite, topped with asbestos slates on gabled and hipped roofs, featuring stone and brick chimney stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan, with an 18th-century wing on the south side of the east entrance front.

The house is two storeys high. The east front showcases 19th-century wood sash windows, with eight panes per sash, and an exposed sash box at the second floor of the 18th-century wing. A brick shaft rises from the eaves to the left of the window, and the roof is gable-ended to the left and hipped above the sash window. The large gable end of the east front features an early 16th-century four-centre arched doorway with moulded spandrels and a hood mould located in the left corner. An extra label stop indicates a possible resiting. The remainder of the gable is rendered and blind, originating from a 17th-century wing that has been removed. At the apex of the gable, there is a brick shaft on a tapering stone cap. The roof profile changes behind this gable, which has a lean-to on the north side.

To the right of the gable, there is a window and a door, with another window positioned midway above. Both windows are two-light casements, each with eight panes. The gable end features a brick stack. The rear elevation to the west has an external stone lateral stack with a tapering stone cap, possibly incorporating an adjacent stair turret on the left. To the right, there is a first-floor wood sash window with six panes per sash and an exposed sash box, along with a wider wood window below. The 18th-century wing projects slightly to the left.

Inside, the manor has chamfered oak beams in two rooms, along with a huge fireplace that features a chamfered oak lintel and a bread oven at the north end, as well as a low arched opening at the side of the lateral fireplace. The first floor and roof have not been inspected.
