Description

Snowdon Turnpike Cottage is a tollhouse built between 1838 and 1839. It features limestone dressings on a flint facade with rubblestone returns and has a thatched roof with a central diagonal stack. The building is single storey with a two-window range. The front, which faces east, has a canted bay with pointed window arches on either side of a studded wooden door set in a pointed arch. The returns have pointed-arched windows towards the front and square windows towards the rear on the west side. All windows are shuttered. The thatched hipped roof has wide boarded eaves supported by rustic posts. The interior has not been inspected. This road was constructed as a loop with a lower gradient than the previous road.
