Description
Tollgate Cottage is a tollhouse built around 1840-1850, standing two storeys tall. It features a half octagon bay at the corner and is constructed of crazed rubble with ashlar dressings. The roof is hipped and covered with slate. The cottage has casement windows, with lozenge glazing on the ground floor. The entrance includes a four-centred arched door. On the north side, there is a shallow canted bay that has similar glazing to the windows, and above it, there is a gable on the right-hand extension that also features a similar type of casement window.
