Description
Townsend Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble stone and features a double Roman clay tile gabled roof with wooden bargeboards. The cottage has coursed rubble stone end chimney stacks with caps. It is two stories high with a two-window front and has an L-plan layout, including a lean-to on the left side where the entrance is located. The entrance consists of a 20th-century vertical boarded door set in a stop-chamfered wood frame. The windows are 19th-century, two-light wood casements set in step-chamfered stone mullion frames. There is a weathered string course at the eaves level, and a two-light, step-chamfered stone mullion window with six-pane casements is located in the right-hand return.
