Description
The Old Malt House is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century. It features painted rubble-stone walls and a thatch roof with stone gable copings on both the left and right gables. There are 20th-century brick stacks at each gable. The cottage is two storeys high and has three windows, each with three-light wooden mullions that are straight-chamfered. The wooden casements have horizontal glazing bars and wooden lintels. The front door, located at the centre, is a plank-and-muntin style from the 19th century, and there is a thatch porch canopy above it supported by two wooden posts. To the right, there is an extension with rubble-stone walls and a Roman-tile roof, also two storeys high and consisting of one bay. Inside, there is a 17th-century plank-and-muntin screen leading to the hall. The left gable end features a fireplace with a large wooden lintel, and there is a similar fireplace in the right gable end.
