Description
St James Cottage and the Old Workhouse is a former workhouse that has been converted into two attached cottages, dating from the early 19th century. The building features rubble-stone walls and a thatched roof with stone gable copings. There are brick stacks located at the left-hand gable, at the center of the ridge, and at the right-hand gable, with the latter being from the 20th century. The structure is two storeys high and has six windows, which are three-light iron casements with lead lights. The windows are topped with stone lintels that have a central key, dating from the 19th century. The front doors include a plank door for St James, located left of center with one light, and a two-leaf wooden door for the Old Workhouse with glass lights above. There is a porch with low stone walls, wooden supports above, and a gabled structure with tiles, which is from the 20th century.
