Description

The entrance gateway and gate to Greystones is a structure dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is built from coursed rubble Doulting stone and features a coped gable with a four-centred stone arch set within a square bead-moulded frame. The arch has incised spandrel panels on moulded caps and chamfered jambs. Above the gate, there is a bracketed gable with an ogee arch-headed slit opening. The gate itself is a heavy studded lattice design, framed and panelled, with a studded lattice fixed wood panel positioned above.
