4/81 Barn and Mill to Hinton Farm, 60 metres East of farmhouse -

GV II

Barn and mill. Mid C18. Red brick, English garden wall bond; hipped plain clay tile roof with base courses of stone slates. 8-bays, of which the two Northernmost are late C19, with central projecting porch to West and 3 projecting porches to South. West projection gabled, the doorway blocked; left ventilation holes in patterned brickwork; right 2-bays containing the old mill, these bays with 3 floors and deep cellars with beaded surround mullioned window with vertical iron bars to openings, and matching architraves to ground floor doorway; additional doorway first floor between windows of stable pattern; right again bays converted to stables with rubbed brick segmental arched openings in South wall. Collar-braced trusses. In the mill most of the water-driven machinery, including 2 grinding stones; water wheel removed and now driven by turbine powered by system of tunnelled streams. Earliest reference to a corn-grist mill here of 1720.
