Description
Hinton Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, which underwent significant modifications by Sir Arthur Blomfield in the 1860s for the Goodford family. The building is constructed from local lias stone that has been carefully cut, squared, and coursed, with quoins featuring a pecked finish and Ham stone dressings. It has a roof covered in fish scale clay tiles over base courses of plain tiles, with coped gables and rendered end and intermediate chimney stacks.
The house has an 'L' shaped plan and is two storeys high with four bays. The entrance features a six-panel door with two glazed panels, located in bay three, and is protected by a mid-19th century Gothic style timber porch that has ornamental bargeboards and a tiled roof. The windows are ovolo moulded with mullions and large rectangular leaded panes, all four-light except for a three-light window above the porch. Some windows have opening iron casements with old catches. There are two rear extensions; one is simple in its stonework, while the other is smaller and made of red brick in English garden wall bond, featuring small pane leaded casements.
