Description
Ilex House is a late 18th to early 19th century house located on the west side of Main Road in Huntspill. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a pantiled roof with coped verges, a stone cornice, and a brick parapet with coping. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with sash windows that include glazing bars and painted flat heads with stepped voussoirs. The central entrance has a semi-circular head door opening, an arched fanlight, and a six-panelled door, with the top four panels being glazed. There is a wooden box hood supported by columns above the door. An attached shop on the roadside, known as Ilex Stores, has been significantly altered and is not of special interest. Inside, the house retains its original staircase, cornices, shutters, and doors.
