Description

Huntspill Court is a small country house set in wooded grounds, dating from the mid-18th century, with some alterations from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The building is constructed of Flemish bond brick with freestone dressings and features rusticated alternating quoins, a dentil cornice, and parapets with copings. The main block has a hipped double-Roman tile roof, while the wings have single pitch pantile and triple-Roman tile roofs, along with large brick stacks.

The house has a classical symmetrical frontage, with a central unit that is three storeys high and three bays wide. Each side features two-storey canted bay windows and sash windows with glazing bars. The balustraded parapets and moulded architraves add to its elegance. Above each bay, there is a stone Diocletian window with moulded architraves, a semi-circular head window in the centre of the first floor with a key and imposts, and a sash window with Gothick glazing. The second floor has a segmental-head window in the centre with a two-light casement.

The entrance features a keyed architrave door opening in the centre, topped with a triangular stone pediment on consoles and a three-quarter glazed door. Each side has a three-storeyed wing set back, with two bays and flush-mounted 12-pane sash windows, although the upper windows are blank as the third floor is false. The left wing's ground floor has been altered and steps forward slightly, featuring a triple-light sash window with glazing bars in an architrave, and it has a shaped gable on the return.

Inside, the house retains coeval features, including a fine staircase, chimney-pieces, ornamental plasterwork, and doors.
