Description
This is a row of three small cottages located at 70, 72, and 74 North Street, dating from the 18th century. They are constructed of limestone rubble and feature double Roman pantile roofs that continue with the adjacent building at No. 76 to the left. The cottages have stepped stone coping and a brick stack at the right gable end, along with brick stacks on the party walls. Each cottage has a single-unit plan and stands two storeys high, with a three-window range.
No. 74, on the left, has a 19th-century planked door next to the door of No. 72. Both doors are flanked by 20th-century two-light casements. The first-floor window of No. 72 is set in a gabled half dormer, and both cottages have wooden lintels above all openings. No. 70, on the right, also features a half dormer and 20th-century three-light casements on both floors. The door to No. 70 is located to the right, and the ground-floor window has a flat gauged arch. The interiors of the cottages have not been inspected.
