Description

Clematis Cottage is a mid-19th century house located on North Street in Crewkerne. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with Ham Hill stone dressings, and has a slate roof with stepped stone copings and brick stacks to the gable ends. The house follows a double-depth plan and presents a symmetrical 2-window facade. Stone lintels are above all the openings. The windows are 2-light casements with small panes, and there is a late 19th century cast-iron boot scraper set into the wall to the right of the 20th-century six-panel door. The house has higher eaves and a ridge than the rows of cottages that extend continuously along the front. The interior has not been inspected. It is included on the list for group value.
