Description

This is a house dating to around 1840, located on Abbey Street in Crewkerne. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with dressings made of Ham Hill stone, and has a slate roof. The house follows a double-depth plan and presents a symmetrical facade of three bays over three storeys. A moulded eaves cornice and rusticated quoins to the right side are notable exterior features. All windows are set within moulded architraves with keystones. The second-floor windows have 4/8-pane sashes, the first-floor windows are round-arched with 6/6-pane sashes, and the ground-floor windows have 8/8-pane sashes. A six-panel door, with a matching overlight, is set within a plain, elliptical-arch doorcase featuring reeded imposts. The interior remains unexamined.
