Description
The Gates, gate piers, and front boundary wall, located 40 meters north of Stowell Hill House, were built in 1923/24 by Sir Guy Dawber. They are made of local stone rubble with ashlar, which may be reconstructed stone, and feature wrought iron gates. The gate piers are approximately 500 millimeters square and 3 meters tall, topped with moulded flat caps. They support a fine pair of wrought iron gates designed in a free style, which includes some repousse work. The flanking walls curve around to the piers and are topped with acorn finials. There is a considerable length of wall extending westwards, stepped up the hill, with matching piers. This structure is part of the original design for the setting of Stowell Hill House.
