Description
Beechfield Lodge is a house built in 1877, constructed from local stone that is cut and squared, with ashlar dressings. It features a hipped Welsh slate roof that rises to a central stone chimney stack across the full width of the ridge, set behind a low parapet. The building is a single storey with two bays, and includes a plinth, cornice, and plain parapet. The windows are architraved 6-pane sashes, and there is a projecting flat-roofed porch at the second bay of the roadside elevation. There are matching extensions to the east-rear and south side. The lodge has not been seriously altered and is significant as the former lodge to Horsington House, built by the Dodington family when the new drive and main road were established.
