Description

Manor Farmhouse, dated 1875, is a farmhouse built in a local stone with squared blocks and ashlar dressings, featuring a hipped Welsh slate roof and ashlar chimney stacks. The design is in an 'L' shape, with three bays on the south elevation, bays one and two projecting. The building has a plinth, ashlar quoins, and a heavy eaves cornice punctuated by upper windows. It has chamfered mullioned windows with four lights, five lights to the upper bay two, the ground-floor windows having transoms and decorative cast iron casements in a cottage orne style. The entrance is located in bay two, accessed by six steps, with a four-centre moulded arch, sidelights, and toplights, all under an angled label. Above the first-floor window of this bay is a false gable containing an ornate circular plaque inscribed with "TMD 1875," potentially referencing Thomas Manning Dodington, who died in 1885 and whose family owned Horsington House. Plain cellar windows are also present. The other elevations mirror this design. The interior was not inspected. The farmhouse exhibits dignified detailing and appears relatively unaltered, forming part of a planned farm complex.
