Description
The entrance gates and railings at the north-east corner of the churchyard of St John the Baptist date from the early 19th century. They feature wrought ironwork mounted on local stone bases. The random stone walling has ashlar-shaped copings and stands about 900 millimeters high, topped with arrowhead railings that bring the total height to approximately 1.8 meters. The gates have segmental arched tops, adorned with arrowheads on the top and middle rails, and a central urn finial. A curved bracket for a lamp is positioned over the center of the gateway, supported by ornamental braces. These gates and railings are significant to the setting of St John's Church.
