Description
The Stables, Water Tower, garages, and allied outbuildings located northeast of Stowell Hill House were built in 1923-1924 by Sir Guy Dawber. Constructed from local stone rubble, the stables feature weatherboard cladding, while the water tower has plain clay tile hanging. Both structures have bonnet hipped roofs made of plain clay tiles and are arranged in an unsymmetrical 'U' shape. The stables include standard horse boxes on the west and north sides, with a return to the water tower at the center of the east wing, which stands approximately 15 meters high and has a near pyramidal roof. There are wooden stairs leading to a first-floor door on the west face, above which is a clock face, and a hipped dormer window on the south slope of the roof. Attached to the south end of the east wing is a garage block consisting of three units. To the east, there is a parallel range with a half hipped roof made of timber, along with some later concrete blockwork (which is not included in the listing). At the south end, there is a notable wrought iron garden gate featuring repousse work. This group of outbuildings is part of a carefully designed and detailed estate.
