Description
Caige Bush Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 18th century, which has been modified over time. It is constructed of local lias stone rubble, with the front elevation rendered. The farmhouse features a clay pantiled Mansard roof that has steep lower slopes and is flanked by stepped coped gables topped with ball finials. There are brick chimney stacks positioned between the gables. The building is two storeys high with an attic and consists of four bays. It has later 19th-century four-pane sash windows set in plain openings. There are projecting porches between the first and second bays and between the third and fourth bays; the first porch has a pitched roof while the second has a lean-to roof, both of which are tiled. A single-storey extension is attached to the north gable, which leads to a north crosswing built in Flemish bond red brickwork that matches the roof. This extension features a single doorway, while the crosswing is two storeys high with roughly squared lias stone walls and doors located at both levels in the east gable. The interior has not been seen.
