Description
The Firs is a house located at the end of a row in Ashill Village, dating from the 18th century and modified over time. It is constructed of local stone rubble with a rendered and colourwashed facade, featuring brick dressings on the west gable and Ham stone dressings on the facade. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has stepped coped gables, along with brick chimney stacks.
The building is two storeys high and has three bays. It includes a plinth, a floor string, and a cill-band, as well as a cornice and a shallow parapet with moulded coving and plain side pilasters. The sash windows are set in architraves, with six panes above and twelve panes below, the latter arranged in pairs. In the lower bay two, there is a blocked doorway with an architrave that has a keystone and a small dentilled hood mould above it, along with an ashlar panel situated between this doorway and the first-floor window. The west gable appears to have been rebuilt, and there is an outshut at the rear. The interior has not been seen.
