Description
Lower Vagg Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of cut and squared Ham stone with ashlar dressings and features a triple angle clay tiled roof between high coped gables that suggest it may have originally had a thatched roof. The building has brick end chimney stacks and is two storeys high with an attic, comprising three bays.
On the upper floor, there are three-light hollow chamfered mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses, which lack labels. The lower floor has three-light plain beaded mullioned windows with simple architraves, along with an added casement window to the left of the lower first bay. The central lower bay features a 20th-century door in a deep recess, topped with a timber hood supported by brackets. The south-west gable has a blocked oval window, while the north-east gable has a blocked two-light chamfered mullioned window. There is a single-storey extension to the south-west gable and another extension at the rear. The interior has not been seen.
