Description
This barn, located 5 metres south of Middle Halsway Farmhouse, dates from possibly the 15th century and was enlarged in the 18th century. It is constructed of cob with a random rubble addition and features a half hipped thatched roof. The barn has three and a half bays of cob and one bay of random rubble at the north end. It includes double doors on the east and west sides, as well as a plank door in the northeast corner with a wooden lattice above. Inside, there are two pairs of jointed crucks with a yoked apex and tenoned collars that rest on a stone plinth approximately 500 millimetres high. The interior also contains an 18th-century threshing floor and a wooden partition where the cob gable end has been removed.
