COTHELSTONE CP Milestone at ST 183 316

GV II Milestone. Late C18. Granite and cast iron, approximately 700 mm high. Round headed stone with attached plaque inscribed "9 miles to Bridgewater". The turnpike road up Cothelstone Hill through Cothelstone Manor estate was built in 1783, reputedly with stone taken from the decaying Manor House.
