Milestone. 1839. Rough hewn blue lias pier, cast iron plaque to South side inscribed:- "1 mile to Bridgwater". Part of Bridgwater Turnpike Trust, established 1730, this road turnpiked in 1839. (O Bryan Morland, An introduction to the Infrastructure of the Industrial Revolution in Somerset, 1982).
