Description

This is a bridge over the approach to a former quarry, dated 1842 as indicated by an incised stone plaque on the south side. The bridge is constructed from coursed and squared red sandstone rubble and features two semi-circular archways with roughly dressed voussoirs and jambs. The carriageway over the bridge is approximately 8 metres wide, and there is a rubble parapet, one metre high, on each side. The south parapet has a string of corbels at its base. Access to the former quarry passed beneath the arches of the bridge.
