Description

This is a water hydrant located approximately 5 metres south-east of number 71 on St Thomas Street in Wells. It dates from the mid-19th century and is made of cast iron by J Stone and Co. from Deptford, London. The hydrant is set at the edge of the pavement and is circular in shape, standing about 1 metre high. It features a moulded base and a fluted shaft that leads to a moulded top. There is a small central feature that appears to have the top broken off, and a water outlet is located on the side.
