Description

This fire hydrant, dating from around the mid-19th century, was made by J. Stone and Co. of Deptford, London. It is constructed from cast iron and has a circular shape, standing approximately 1 metre tall. The hydrant features a short fluted column with a moulded base and capital, and the base is inscribed with 'CITY of WELLS'. It includes a hose connection on the side. This hydrant is part of a series located in Wells, including those on Priory Road, St Andrew Street, and St Thomas Street.
