Description

The boundary railings and gates to Portway House, located on the west side of Portway in Wells, date from the early 19th century. They feature a low stone plinth and are made of both wrought and cast iron. The railings extend between Nos 5 and 7A, which are not included in this listing. The design includes rails with double offset tops and arched bracing standards. There is a matching pair of central gates positioned opposite the door, along with an overthrow that once supported a lamp, which may be older than the railings themselves.
