Description

The former railway goods shed, now used as commercial premises with multiple occupants, dates back to around 1870. It is constructed from Draycott stone rubble, featuring Bath stone ashlar dressings and a Bridgwater triple-angle clay tiled roof with plain gables. The roof overhangs on the east side, covering two main archways.

The exterior is a single storey with five bays. The east side showcases four-centre-arched windows with ashlar surrounds, including imposts on bays one and five, and a matching doorway in bay three. Bays two and four feature large four-centre arches. The south gable has two large arches, with the west arch presumably positioned over the former railway track. The west side includes four windows and a central door, while the north side has the track arch on the west side and a small one-storey extension at the northeast corner that matches the main structure.

Although the interior was not inspected, this building is recognized as a good example of Great Western Railway architecture. It is located on the former Bristol and Exeter Railway line between Yatton and Wells, which opened on April 5th, 1870, serving the Wells Tucker Street Station, one of three stations in the city during the 19th century.
